35th Annual Inner-City Scholarship Fund Gala Raises $800,000 To Support Disadvantaged Youth

NEW YORK (May 26, 2011) - Nearly 400 guests raised $800,000 to help support New York City’s underserved students at the 35th annual FRIENDS of Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF) Gala on Monday, May 16th at Cipriani 42nd Street.

ICSF is the city’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing tuition assistance for low-income students attending ICSF- supported inner-city Catholic schools.

The black tie affair was emceed by long time ICSF supporter Martha MacCallum, Anchor of FOX News Channel’s “America's Newsroom” and chaired by John Callagy, partner and Chairman of Kelley Drye & Warren, and his wife Mollie.

Also in attendance were ICSF Trustees Mary Ann Tighe, Thomas C. Quick and Catherine M. Keating and event co-chairs Peter Grauer, Anthony J. de Nicola, Mark S. Rossi and Samuel A. Di Piazza.

The pre-dinner program showcased students from Cardinal Hayes High School, who performed selections from their spring theatrical production, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The FRIENDS Committee is made up of more than 200 volunteers who support ICSF students through initiatives including teaching art-appreciation, preparing students for the work place and raising funds for quality-of-life capital improvements in the schools.

The funds raised will help assist Inner-City Scholarship Fund in their commitment to more than 33,000 students (93% minority and 36% non-Catholic) in 103 inner-city Catholic schools in Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island. Over 90% percent of ICSF high school seniors graduate and pursue college.
